It was in Wertheim that our CEO and sole holder Hans-Günter Ulzhöfer founded his company in the year 1987, the SMT Maschinen- und Vertriebs GmbH & Co. KG. The corporate goal was: the production and sale of soldering systems.
 
Within a very short time reflow soldering systems were developed to accommodate the industrial serial production of electronic modules, these systems are also available for soldering in a nitrogen atmosphere in a protective gas version. The existing programme has been enhanced to include units for small-lot production in the product range.
 
SMT moved into the new building "Factory I" (office, production area and demonstration room) in 1992. In the summer of 1995 once again expanded with "Factory II". In the course of the Technology Congress in March 1997 another demonstration room was inaugurated.
 
To expand the production capacity SMT built "Factory III" in the summer of 2008. At the same time the new technology centre and "Factory IV" was inaugurated. Both buildings are equipped with the very latest energy and communication technology.
 
Progress, innovative technology that takes the preservation and protection of resources and the environment into consideration is the philosophy of SMT. Not without reason is SMT the manufacturer of the most energy-saving and easiest to maintain reflow soldering systems in Germany, systems where heat transfer is effected exclusively via a positively-driven convection system.
 
The portfolio consist from extremely small systems for laboratories and development, via medium-sized units and on down to large systems for the industrial production of electronic modules. Customer-related wishes are always taken into consideration and so flow into our company as part of the continuous improvement process.
 
In order to fulfil our claim of being a technical leader on the market even in the future, SMT is deeply committed to the field of research.
