V630 with 5 Cooling Zones - probably the world's largest vacuum-reflow-soldering system on the market

Sometimes size does matter. To meet the specific requirements of an international tech group, the Wertheim-based company SMT Thermal Discoveries has built a special version of the V630 model, which, according to current market research, is probably the world's largest vacuum-reflow-soldering system.

The preheating zones, peak zone, the very large vacuum chamber, which offers space for products measuring 71cm x 85cm, and five cooling zones are spread across a length of almost 12m and a width of 1.8m and a weight of approximately 9t.

“Demanding cycle times, which enable a very high product throughput, and the component sizes to be produced by the customer, have led to the dimensions of the convection-based soldering oven with vacuum function being even larger than the usual dimensions of our V-Series,” says Florian Graf, Head of Sales & Marketing at SMT Thermal Discoveries.

“We know the market very well and, of course, monitor it very closely. We are not aware of a machine of this type and size appearing on the market before,”Graf continued.

At this stage, one can therefore assume that this machine is probably the largest reflow-soldering-system with vacuum function in the world.

Reflow soldering systems based on convection technology have been the core business of the German Wertheim-based company SMT since its founding in 1987. Reflow vacuum soldering systems have been part of its portfolio since 2009.

"Existing, established, and reliable technology has now been scaled up. Theoretically, even larger systems could be built," says Graf. "You just need some space. But with the different models V290, V350, V450, and V580, we can also serve customers who don't have this amount of space."
